I’ve written a lot about what to eat before a workout. I have also written in this very blog on post-workout nutrition But I have never before written about the most important meal of any man’s day. Post-beer nutrition. This could be the biggest change to British post-booze habits since Just Eat began running (no I’m not linking you to their bloody website).
You see, I am a realist. Most trainers would tell you that you can never again visit the pub, if you want to get in shape. But I know that telling adults that they can’t do something is the worst way to motivate them. So instead I roll with the punches and try to do damage limitation. You’re going to end up in the pub on some occasions (and don’t forget to join my facebook group Beer ‘n’ Biceps if you do). So let’s make sure you don’t commit the cardinal sin of pub going ….
And buy a kebab
1,000 calories! For what is essentially a plastic container of E-coli. Here’s what to do, before you go to the pub. Make yourself a post-pub snack. Something awesome! Chicken fajitas, or a steak sandwich. Food with lots of salad in it, and lean meat (chicken, turkey, etc). And keep it in the fridge.
You can even put the calories into myfitnesspal beforehand if you want to be really on the ball. And that way you know that you have something amazing waiting for you back at home. Which will stop you from spending your last tenner on the highest calorie snack of all time!
