Prime Male Review

This Prime Male Review contains affiliate links to natural testosterone boosters

Prime Male is a natural testosterone booster that is sold by the UK company Roar Ambition. It is one of the, if not the, biggest natural testosterone supplements on the market and comes with a stellar reputation. This Prime Male Review will delve into the formula, the pros, and the cons, and it will help you to decide whether Prime Male is the right supplement for you.

Prime Male is an excellent natural testosterone booster, that can help men to restore their natural testosterone production levels. It does this by helping your body create an environment that is effective for testosterone production. When taken alongside improvements to your lifestyle and diet, it can help you improve your testosterone levels.

In this Prime Male Review, I will be talking you through each of the ingredients, and explaining how Prime Male is designed to work. Helping you to make a decision on whether you want to purchase it or not.

Prime Male Review

Prime Male has been around for a long time, at least a long time in the context of the supplement world, and while some people see this as a bad thing, I see it as a good thing. The formula works, they have thousands of satisfied customer reviews, and there is a level of trust that a new company cannot emulate.

The product itself is excellent, with a good quality evidence-based formula, and superb customer service, and it is sold at a reasonable price. There are some ingredients that may feel a little outdated, and the formula focuses more on the short-term than the long-term, but these are criticisms that apply to every natural testosterone booster, not just Prime Male.

Prime Male Ingredients Review

There are 12 ingredients in the Prime Male formula, a mixture of vitamins, minerals, and herbal ingredients that can help to protect your testosterone production, lower cortisol, SHBG, and aromatase, and restore your natural testosterone levels. In this section, I will take a look at each ingredient, giving you an idea of why they are there, and whether they are helpful or not.

D-Aspartic Acid 1,600 mg

DAA is a naturally occurring amino acid. In rodent studies, it has been shown to increase testosterone levels by improving testosterone synthesis [1]. However, the evidence that it improves testosterone in humans is mixed.

That does not mean that DAA does not work, it just means that there haven’t been enough studies to say either way. There is evidence that DAA is effective at improving male fertility, with studies showing that it can improve sperm quality [2]. It can also improve sperm motility and sperm count.

The dosage is a little on the low side, with a clinical dose being 2,000 mg, but 1,600 mg is still decent. If you are looking to boost your testosterone for muscle building then DAA may not be that effective. If you are looking to increase your fertility then it is proven to help.

Boron 5 mg

Boron is a trace mineral that has been shown to increase testosterone levels in humans [3]. It also appears to reduce inflammation and it may help to lower estrogen levels, though research is mixed on this.

There is also some evidence that boron can help to protect bone health and may play a role in helping to prevent osteoarthritis. The effective dosage of Boron is over 3 mg, so Prime Male is well-dosed.

Korean Red Ginseng 120 mg

Ginseng has so many health benefits that it is a surprise that it isn’t more widely known. There are a number of varieties of ginseng out there, but they all have similar benefits. Korean Red Ginseng has been found to boost testosterone [4], which is why it has been chosen by Prime Male.

Ginseng can also help to improve fertility, reduce muscle soreness after a workout, improve mood and cognition, and it may even help with fat loss [5]. It can lower cholesterol, help fight depression, and may help to prevent cognitive decline as we age.

This is a supplement ingredient that provides a number of benefits. The dosage is a little low from Prime Male. Ideally, you would want 200 mg, but several studies have found ginseng to be effective at levels as low as 40 mg, so 120 mg is fine.

Luteolin 60 mg

Luteolin has been added to the Prime Male formula because it is able to inhibit an enzyme known as aromatase. This enzyme is produced naturally by the body, and the higher your body fat levels, the more aromatase is released.

Aromatase plays an important role in your body’s health, but too much of it can cause issues. Its role is to convert excess testosterone and turn it into estrogen. As you can imagine, turning your testosterone into estrogen is going to be an issue.

Luteolin has the ability to inhibit aromatase, preventing the conversion of free testosterone into estrogen, and allowing your natural testosterone levels to return to normality.

Magnesium 100 mg

While magnesium is rarely talked about as a testosterone booster, it actually does have some evidence to support this. A study in 2010 found that magnesium supplementation can help to restore testosterone levels in both athletes and sedentary individuals [6].

Magnesium is ideal for anyone who exercises regularly, particularly if you train at a high intensity. It can help to reduce cortisol, improve sleep quality, and help to reduce anxiety. This can make a huge difference to your waking testosterone levels.

The dosage of magnesium is fine, it is well within your recommended daily intake levels, but there is enough magnesium to be effective. This is a no-brainer ingredient from Prime Male which has been intelligently added.

Ashwagandha (4:1) 300 mg

This may be my favourite ingredient in the whole formula. Not only has ashwagandha been shown to increase testosterone levels in men [7], but it can also help massively with male infertility. Studies have shown that ashwagandha can help improve sperm count, motility, and quality [8].

Ashwagandha appears to work by reducing cortisol levels, so it is incredibly effective for men who lead high-stress lives [9]. If you suffer from chronic stress, then your cortisol levels will be high, your sleep quality will suffer, and your testosterone levels will drop. Ashwagandha is really good at reducing anxiety, lowering stress, and ultimately helping to protect your testosterone levels.

Nettle Root (10:1) 160 mg

This is my least favourite ingredient in the formula. Nettle root is often used in testosterone boosters as it is believed to increase testosterone levels. However, there is no real evidence that this is the case. That being said, it has anti-inflammatory properties [10], so there are health benefits to consuming it.

Vitamin D3 100µg

Vitamin D is a great testosterone booster, particularly for men who live in countries that have dark winters. A 2011 study by Pilz et al found that regular vitamin D supplementation was able to increase testosterone levels in overweight men [11].

Supplementing with vitamin D can also help to strengthen your bones, lower your blood pressure, reduce body fat, and improve your blood sugar levels [12]. There may also be improvements in your mood and cognition. The dosage from Prime Male is perfect.

Vitamin K2 45 µg

Vitamin K has its uses – it is good at improving bone and joint health, but the main reason for its inclusion is that vitamin K can help to increase vitamin D absorption.

Zinc 30 mg

One surprising side effect of excessive exercise is a drop in testosterone levels, something that athletes and gym goers alike may suffer with. This drop in testosterone is usually down to a zinc deficiency. Because of this, zinc supplementation can significantly improve testosterone levels [13].

Zinc can also help to improve sleep quality, which is a well-known way to improve your testosterone levels. This is a smart ingredient for Prime Male, but one that is fairly common in natural testosterone boosters.

Does Prime Male Boost Testosterone?

One of the biggest misconceptions about natural testosterone boosters is that they work in the same way as anabolic steroids. This is not the case. Anabolic steroids work by imitating testosterone, they don’t increase production they increase the amount of testosterone in your body.

A natural testosterone booster helps you get your natural testosterone levels back to where they should be. Most men have lower testosterone levels due to lifestyle changes and the effects of ageing.

Taking Prime Male can help to restore these levels by improving your health and reducing cortisol, aromatase, and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG). Allowing your testosterone levels to increase. But not causing massive spikes in testosterone.

Prime Male Pros

  • High-quality ingredients
  • Ingredients have the correct dosage
  • Excellent value for money
  • Trustworthy and reliable

Prime Male Cons

  • You have to take four capsules per day
  • Some ingredients only work short-term

Alternatives to Prime Male

If you’ve read our top ten natural testosterone boosters article then you will know that Prime Male has few equals. It uses well-dosed ingredients, and it avoids fillers. One product that could compete is Hunter Test. This is because Hunter Test uses clinical doses and has an (arguably) better formula. However, Hunter Test comes with a premium price tag, so most people tend to prefer Prime Male.

Prime Male Review: Final Thoughts

Prime Male is an Old School Classic in the natural testosterone booster industry, and it continues to stay above most of the competition. Ironically, its toughest competitors come from the same company (Testo Fuel and Hunter Test from Roar Ambition).

What helps Prime Male stand out from the crowd is its focus on older men rather than young (Testo Fuel is designed for younger users). The packaging is old-fashioned, and the website is showing its age, but as a product Prime Male is still outshining many of the newer products out there.
